On May 9, 2006 I had the pleasure of meeting the 1st and 2nd grade classes at St. Peter's school in Marble Falls, Texas. The kids were great and asked some really good questions. They wanted to see my video of diving at night with the Manta Rays on the big island of Hawaii in February. They asked me to write a chapter about my trip to Hawaii, so I will do so for my new audience.
Mrs. MacDonough is going to use TotoTravels.com in her 2nd grade classroom next year. So I am excited for them to follow my travels. Each student had suggestions of the animals I might see in Africa. So I hope to have lots of pictures to show you. We agreed that while it would be interesting to see a Komodo Dragon, they are best spotted in Indonesia.
We also went around the room and came up with a list of things I should pack in my backpack for my trip. Some of the good ideas were: a 1st Aid kit, underwear, a journal and pen (as a journal is not much good without a pen!), my passport, a camera, swim goggles, money, and a flashlight. Actually they had really good ideas and came up with a pretty accurate list of things I need to pack. Now I just hope I can fit it all into my backpack as I have to carry everything I need on my back.

Here is the nice article Dan Clifton wrote in the local paper about the visit and TotoTravels.com. Forgive the photo of me as I think I look a bit goofy as they captured me in mid expression!
